In the jungle, and finding Nemo and friends!

Taman Negara
Left Kuala Lumpur and headed to the jungle, otherwise known as Taman Negara, the major national park in Malaysia.
It took two busses and a very nice three hour boat trip to get there, with occasional monkeys or local people on the bank
Took a night jungle walk and saw lots of (large) insects and spiders, including a millipede.
Night jungle walk
Walked through the jungle to the awesome canopy walk, built from rope and ladders, about 45m from the ground
Canopy walk
Climbed and crawled through a cave, with hundreds of small bats, as close as 10cm from my head, and some of them flying around. And a white snake, but that was a few metres away.
Bats!
The park does have elephants and tigers and some other medium sized mammals, but they’re very very elusive, even if you do an overnight trek and camp out at a hide. And I decided against a longer trek as it’s soooo humid here, and also my thigh is still playing up when I climb hills (Rinjani injury from about 10 days ago, grr!)

Pulau Perhentian Kecil
Took a bus (instead of the jungle train, choosing for convenience and speed) to the north east of Malaysia and a fast boat to Palau Perhentian Kecil, along with some friends I made in Taman Negara (very clear backpacker trail here in Malaysia, ha!)
Beach
Sharing a room and bed with a fellow traveler again, as there’s no dorms or single rooms available here
Chilled out on the island and discovered it has a nightlife, consisting of one bar that sells beer and small bottles of vodka and rum, and starts getting busy around midnight. Unfortunately they play the same music every night and it’s pop/r&b dancey stuff mostly. Early last night the dj did play two Metallica songs though, ahh.
Did a snorkeling tour and saw and swam with turtles, reef sharks (quite small) and Nemo!
Fishies

Now on the way to Penang/Georgetown, via Kota Bharu for a night.
