Experiments in web2pointoh…

1. I’ve started a Twitter for EnjoyPerth. Working on a better widget for the sidebar (don’t like the flash one Twitter provide, am looking at Velvet Unravelled’s twitter plugin at the moment), and a plugin that will alert twitter when I write a new post.

And maybe a plugin that will post a summary of the twits that day in a post. Actually, no, because then the email subscribers (of which there are lots, it’s scary!) will get tweets about what’s happening that evening the next morning in their inbox. Hmm, the general population better get into rss quick smart! One day I’ll try to convert them… (having email subscribers intimidates me more than rss subscribers for some reason, and there’s way more of them)
2. I’ve started sharing (some) items I read via Google Feedreader. Will probably only be interesting to those in Perth, or if you’re into the same things as me (ahh, divers, but I mainly subscribe to Perth blogs…) or if you feel like stalking me even more than you already can! I keep forgetting to hit the ‘Share’ button on good posts at the moment, but hopefully I’ll get used to it. There’s a widget on the side of this blog, or you can even subscribe to my shared items.

Sidenote(s): I only discovered web2.0 (ok, web2.0 is vague, but you know what I mean…) about 1.5 years ago. While I was reading an article about it my head was exploding with how cool it was, all this interactivity, blogging, flickr, rss feeds (I think this was when I first discovered flickr and de.licio.us, and I’d just been blogging a few months, but not sure). Oh wow, I found the article, about social web predictions! Different than I remember, and is really talking about a step further (would that be web3.0? I don’t really care). Interesting, some more things have happened since then, like Scouta has launched! And it seems Google is heading more into the direction he is talking about than Yahoo?

Funny seeing that website again, learnt the (very) basics of html and other web building stuff from it, I haven’t learnt much more, still use my WYSIWYG editor most of the time!

Enough rambling!
