Richard Giles, a local blogger, podcaster and writer of a book about flickr and podcasting, and Graeme Sutherland, an ex-local, now UK based developer and general tech person as I call it…, are working on a start-up called Scouta.
It’s in stealth mode, so I have no idea what it is, apart from that it is a web-based application, and the market for it is pretty broad.
Richard also said once that whatever associations I have when I first hear the name, they’ll probably be wrong. Well, my first thoughts were the boy scouts and searching. And then of course one might think it would have something to do with podcasting or flickr, but for some reason I don’t think that’s the case. Or it involves a number of different ‘web2.0′ type things… Anyway, time to stop guessing, and sign up for the private beta, or keep an eye on the blog! We’ll find out soon enough!
UPDATE: finally got round to listening to the Global Geek Podcast on TPN, as Dave Gray mentioned that Rich was giving away a few hints on there. Go listen to the whole thing for yourself, but I will say online audio and video were mentioned… (and yes, I must admit I didn’t listen to the whole podcast, I’m not geek enough for that quite yet! :D )
