This post was written as a comment on Rodney Olsen’s blog when he asked what made people comment on blogs. I’ve edited it a bit…
I’m random with commenting on other people’s blogs.
I only occasionally comment, even if I’ve really enjoyed a blog post.
I actually start to comment quite often, but then don’t finish it or end up pressing publish.
Reasons…. I become to feel ‘familiar’ with people very quickly, and I end up having a comment (in my head) for every post they do! And I don’t want to come across as a stalker!! Or at least, I think it would be a bit wierd if there was one person commenting on nearly all my posts too! :D
Also, I don’t want to come across as if I’m spamming, or just leaving comments because I want people to click on my name and come to my blog (which I obviously do sometimes, but is definetly not a reason for me to leave a comment). I always try and remember people saying ‘leave a comment if you have something to add’. So I feel I actually need to add something constructive. But, especially on personal blogs, I’m sure people would appreciate just general comments too, just adding to the conversation, or showing appreciation.
Another problem is that commenting takes time, and then keeping track of left comments takes even more time! (cocomment is not working for me very well at all!)
Commenting doesn’t always take much time, but I know myself, and I ramble!!
And that would be a good spot to end this rambling post!

Ah just comment anyway. All bloggers are narcissistic enough to crave the attention, no matter how stalker-ish we might think you are. :D
